That was it!
The Piper meeting 2014 is over. Despite the still very mixed weather in Germany and Europe , 93 aircrafts (70 PA-18 / J3C and 23"guest aircrafts") of the 183 registered aircraft (123 PA-18 or J3C and 60 "guest aircrafts”) attended to the Piper meeting.
Unfortunately I had to cancel the flights to Kiel, Wyk and Nordborg due bad weather.
Due heavy rain and thunderstorms the flights could not be performed - safety first.
The prize for the best looking PA-18 / J3C won the crew Patrick Kaufmann and Father Joseph with their J3C / L-4, HB-ALP.
The prices for the three longest approaches with a PA-18 / J3C went to:
Pos. | Call-Sign | Type | Crew | Departure | Distance |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
1. | OE-AFC | PA-18-95 | Martin Skacel | Zeltweg, Austria | 859,33 km |
2. | G-HACK | PA-18-150 | Simon Harris, Richard Stow | Oaksey Park, England | 829,70 km |
3. | HB-ODH | J3C-65/L-4 | Cornel Zemp, Miriam Kappeler | Kägiswil, Switzerland | 818,58 km |
The longest flight of all participants came from Graz in Austria. In difficult weather, the crew Christof Fischer and co-pilot covered 901.92 km flight to Rendsburg with their PA-12.
I would like to thank everyone who supported the Piper meeting.
I hope we'll see you all at the Piper Meeting 2015 in Jena.
Always happy landings,
Rolf Wittorf
